Con motivo del Día Mundial del Diseño Industrial se muestran en el andén principal del Museo una selección de piezas representativas del diseño ferroviario. Desde la propia vía (con su balasto, sus carriles y sus aparatos de vía) hasta la más sofisticada de las locomotoras de alta velocidad, han tenido que pasar por las fases o procesos del diseño: Proyecto, producción, venta y consumo. Cada una de sus formas ha sido pensada para su función y casi siempre han evolucionado en su aspecto externo y en su estructura interna, como lo ha hecho el objeto cotidiano a lo largo de la historia del diseño.
