La locura y el amor. Mariana y Fernando están enamorados. Ella ama en él todo lo que tiene de misterioso y de atormentado, pero le desprecia cuando se comporta como un hombre normal; y él la ama porque está convencido de que es la clave del misterio que se desarrolla en su casa.


Crimen y familia. Ambas familias están unidas y enfrentadas por un crimen del pasado, y ambas familias están tan locas que hacen que las cabras montesas – ésas que se despeñan por cualquier tontería – parezcan animales perfectamente equilibrados. Absurdo y Jardiel.
