Esta es la historia de Emil, el hombre que no cree en los fantasmas, y de su mejor amigo, Titi. La trama se desarrolla en una aldea remota, un lugar que parece un trozo de cielo. Sin embargo, la historia comienza 40 días después del funeral de Smaranda, la difunta esposa de Emil.

Los días pasan y Emil se da cuenta de que Titi parece tener los días contados. Quiere animarlo, pero nada ayuda. Y es que, 40 días después de su muerte, Smaranda se instala en la casa de Titi y comienza a perseguirlo.
