Tras nacer como sección paralela dentro del XVIII Certamen Nacional de cortometrajes Aula 18 (El Entrego) y la gran acogida de público que obtuvo en sus proyecciones en Gijón (Centro de Cultura Antiguo Instituto) y Oviedo (Lata de Zinc), Con Otra Mirada adquiere vida propia y pretende crear un evento único en la ciudad con mirada independiente acerca de los diferentes cortometrajes surgidos en la escena nacional poniendo especial énfasis en su calidad. Recuperando la tradición del certamen del que surgió será el público asistente el que con su voto elija el ganador entre los seleccionados.
